Guru Sai Dutt R.M.V of India has stormed into the quarter-finals of the New Zealand Open-2011, (The Li-Ning New Zealand International Challenge 2011) even as the other Indians fell by the wayside, at the International Challenge category badminton tournament being held at Auckland in New Zealand.
Guru Sai Dutt will now face Wing Ki Wong of Hong Kong in the quarter-final round. Wing Ki Wong is ranked no.35 as per the badminton world rankings, as opposed to GuruSai Dutt's ranking of 57. So this is expected to be a tough match for Guru Sai Dutt.
Reigning Indian national badminton champion Arvind Bhat did well to reach the 3rd round of the New Zealand Open, but could not get past Jen Hao Hsu of Chinese Taipei, and lost in two straight sets 19-21, 16-21.

1st round: Ajit Wijettilak lost to Matthiew Lo Ying Ping (France) - 13-21, 11-21
In the doubles section, the Indian pair of Akshay Dewalkar and Arun Vishnu started well winning the first round against New Zealand pair of Chance Cheng & Joe Wu with a comfortable score of 21-14, 21-14, however lost in the second round against Japanese pair of Hiroyuki Sayeki & Ryota Taohata who defeated them 17-21, 21-19, 21-7.
Guru Sai Dutt is the lone Indian left in the fray now, and the eyes of all Indian badminton fans would be on how he performs in his match tomorrow against the world no.35 Wing Ki Wong.
