The Badminton Asia Confederation will be conducting the Badminton Asia Championships-2011 from the 19th to 24th April 2011 in Sichuan Provincial Gymnasium, at Chengdu, in Sichuan, China.
The Badminton Asia championships is equivalent to a Grand Prix competition, and players stand to gain world ranking points accordingly. The championship is being hosted by the Chinese badminton association, and the total prize money for the event is US $150,000, and medals will be awarded to all the winners, the runners-up and the 2 losing Semi-Finalists.
The major names which are missing from this event are Saina Nehwal of India in the women's singles event, and Lee Chong Wei (Malaysia) and Taufik Hidayat (Indonesia) the world no.1 and world no.3 in the men's singles. However all the top badminton players from China are participating in this event.

Major draw highlights for Indians at the Badminton Asia Championships (BAC) -2011:
- Aditi Mutatkar will be playing against world no.17 Salakjit Ponsana of Thailand (Boonsak's sister) in the first round, and if she does manage to get past Salakjit she will get a chance to potentially play against world no.8 Yanjiao Jiang of China who is drawn against world no.23 Ai Goto of Japan in the first round.
- The Indian women's doubles pair of Pradnya Gadre/Jyotshna Polavarapu gets to play against world no.3 pair of Miyuki Maeda/Satoko Suetsuna of Japan in the first round of the BAC.
Considering the overall draws for India at the Badminton Asia championship it looks like its going to be a fruitful outing for several members of the Indian contingent who will be able to gain terrific exposure and experience from this tournament though the chances of any medals look bleak.*Notes:
