Arjuna awards for Badminton players

The Arjuna award is a prestigious award given to Indian sportspersons by the Govt. of India for excellence in the field of sports. Several badminton players have so far been felicitated with the Arjuna award. The award carries with it a bronze statuette, a cash prize of Rs. 5 lacs, and a scroll of honour is also given to the awardee. The award is named after the character of 'Arjuna' the warrior archer, in the Indian pre-historic epic tale of 'Mahabharata'.
